1. When is surf season in Khaolak?
In Khaolak, the surf season runs from April to October. Outside of this period, you can still surf, but the waves may be small or even nonexistent on some days. Usually, surf lessons are taught at Memories Beach, but if the waves are too small to do in-water practice, you'll be rescheduled to learn surf lessons at Nang Thong Beach during low tide.
2. How can I travel to Khaolak?
We recommend you catch a flight to Phuket International Airport (HKT), then rent a car to drive to Khaolak yourself, or rent a private taxi for a round trip if you'd like someone to drive for you. In the part of public transport, you have to take a shuttle out to the main road, and wait for the Phuket-Khaolak bus.
3. Can I take the class if I cannot swim?
Yes, you can. A class for beginner will take place around white foam waves, which is shallow area that one can stand on one's feet. Our surf lessons prioritize safety and fun.

4. If it's raining, will the class be postponed?
In case of light to moderate rain, no lightning, and light to moderate wind, classes will proceed as normal.
In case of heavy rain, lightning, strong winds, or poor visibility resulting in a class cancellation, the school will provide a 100% refund or allow students to reschedule their classes.
5. If I wear glasses or need to wear glasses, what can I do?
You can wear contact lenses, but you need to be very careful as they may cause irritation. If you choose to wear glasses, we recommend using a glasses strap, as they might fall off if you fall from the surfboard.
6. Does the class fee include board rental?
Yes. It includes the surfboard during the lesson. If you'd like to continue practicing with the board after the lesson, please inform the OP team on site. If there are many students on site, the team may offer a 50% discount on the rental fee.
7. How many lessons do I have to take before I can stand on the board steadily?
Standing ability and flexibility depend on each student's physical foundation. Those who have played sports or have good strength and balance may be able to stand on the first try, and will become more proficient in the second or third session. The instructor will provide detailed instructions to ensure students can stand at the very first time.
8. Can I do a walk-in reservation?
On weekdays, walk-ins are welcome. However, we recommend contacting us in advance to check class availability and which time slot would suit you.
For long holidays, we recommend booking at least 5-7 days in advance as classes may be fully booked.
9. What types of swimsuits are suitable for surfing?
We recommend the long-sleeved kind to help protect against sun exposure and scratches from the surfboard. If you don't have one, the school has rash guards available for you to borrow.
10. What are the differences between group and private classes?
Group classes: Students learn together with others, ideal for those who want a fun, friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to make new friends.
Private classes: One-on-one lessons with an instructor allow for focused learning and personalized guidance. Suitable for those who want to seriously improve their skills.
